Lesson 6: Arranging and finalizing a track

Objective: Students will learn how to arrange their music into a full track and export it from Soundation. Materials: Computers with internet access, Soundation accounts, speakers, and headphones.

Activities:

  1. 1
    Introduction to arranging (10 mins):
    • Discuss the structure of a song (intro, verse, chorus, etc.).
    • Show how to arrange different sections in Soundation.
  2. 2
    Arranging exercise (20 mins):
    • Students arrange their loops into a full song structure.
  3. 3
    Refining and polishing (20 mins):
    • Teach students about transitions, automation, and final touch-ups.
    • Demonstrate exporting a project from Soundation.
  4. 4
    Final project presentation (10 mins):
    • Students present their final projects to the class.

Assignment:

Export the final track and submit it for feedback.

Tips:

  • Loop: Repeat a clip or multiple clips by selecting and dragging out the top right corner.
  • Duplicate: Duplicate a clip or a whole section by selecting and pressing Ctrl/Cmd + D or by Alt/Opt + dragging.
